The International GT rolls into Germany for the first time, with a Mosler leading the championship. With three podium finishes in a row, Aicart and Guerrero were on the lookout to extend their lead.
With accidents and incidents throughout practice and qualifying, the Pro-Am race was keenly anticipated. Guerrero took the GTA car out wide on the first lap through the chicane and seemed to pick up damage; he struggled to get through the same section on lap two and pitted for a lengthy stop. After 15 laps, GTA called it a day and the Mosler was retired from the race.
After all that excitement, what chance for a quiet, incident-free GT Open race? No chance - this is Mosler racing, and Moslers don't do fuss-free racing!
With Aicart starting halfway down the grid, the last thing he needed was a spinning opponent in his way. Unfortunately, that's what he got; Zapata's Sun Red losing it on lap two and Aicart unable to avoid a collision. The Mosler loses its bonnet in the crash but is able to carry on racing, ending in eight place.
Those results put the GTA drivers down down to joint fifth in the championship table, hoping for better luck next time when the tour take on Brands Hatch in September.
