BELCAR: Francorchampagne 29th-30th September 2007

Back to Spa for the penultimate round of the 2007 Belcar championship.

A strong Mosler field here. Gravity had two entries; Radermecker and Lemeret still chasing the title in the DHL car, Vincent Vosse standing in for the indisposed Chritian Kelders to partner Yves Lambert in the Gulf Mosler.

Guino Kenis and Michael De Keersmaecker ran in the G&A car, qualifying mid-grid but not making it out into the race itself. One unfortunate replacement was that of Chad Racing; their Mosler took damage in the Britcar 24 hour race last month and so they ran their Porsche instead.

Qualifying was a dream; Radermecker holding pole in the early sessions only for Vosse to put in a near-perfect lap to take the Gulf car to the top of the grid.

So, the front row stuffed full of Moslers, just like at Donington back in April. But could Gravity turn that advantage into podium places?

The team ran in formation at the head of the field for the first 45 minutes before the safety car put in an appearance. This allowed the less-thirsty Porsches to make their pitstops earlier, whilst the Moslers waited for their arranged slots. Vosse pitted first, with Radermecker next whilst experiencing some power steering problems and being very low on fuel. The Moslers then got back into the pack back in 5th and 6th place

Consistently quicker laptimes saw the Moslers march towards the front of the field. Only the GPR Porsche seemed to keep up; Gravity were putting in lap times up to two-and-a-half seconds faster than the rest.

Lemeret eventually overhauled the field and took the lead with 20 minutes to go. Lambert left it a little later - taking Henke Hanne's Porsche on the last lap.

So, a fantastic first 1-2 for Gravity. With Radermecker securing the fastest lap, Gravity did all they needed to do.

Now it's on to Zolder for the final race of the season. With Gravity third in the general rankings and Radermecker / Lemeret third and fifth in the driver challenge, it could be a dramatic finale in a few weeks time.
