INTERNATIONAL GT: Barcelona 11th November 2007

The Circuit de Catalunya was the setting for the final race of the 2007 International GT season. Unlike the other races in the season, this is from the classic GT endurance mould, two hours long with points awarded for posiitons at the halfway point as well as at the flag.

Sadly, the top performing Mosler didn't make it to the grid; Aicart and Guerrero were out with an electronics problem. A sad end to what had been a promising season.

There was. though, a new Mosler on the block; Drivex made their marque debut with Miguel A. de Castro and Angel BurgueƱo.

Rounding off the Mosler contingent was the Zener team entry driven by Palencia and Puig.

De Castro stole up to fourth early on, and had slipped back just a little at the halfway stage, taking his first Spanish GT points in sixth place. Motor Competicion were holding steady in tenth and Zener struggling down in 34th.

The Moslers failed to worry the top spots, though; Motor Competicion ending eighth, Drivex falling to 26th and Zener muddling back in 33rd.

Towards the top of the field, the Autorlando Porsche pairing of Richard Lietz and Joel Camathias took the fourth place they needed to claim the championship.

Aicart and Guerrero finished the season a disappointing tenth having led early on, those podium finishes mixed in with too many DNFs later in the year. With GutiƩrrez making 31st and Villalba 66th, it was a season that promised much after 2006's close shaves but the necessary sustained pressure never materialised.

Congratulations, though, to Aicart and Guerrero for a full sweep of the podium in 2007. A few more trips up the stairs in 2008 would be ideal!
