ZOLDER 24 HOURS: Race report

Just pipped to pole, Radermecker still puts the #24 DHL Mosler onto the front of the grid behind the PK Corvette.

The G&A car started well but was one of the first to retire.
With two thirds of the race run, it was the DHL Mosler that then suffered, a wheel problem forcing them out.

The second Gravity car, driven by Kelders, Lambert, Vosse and Lefort held on for an 8th place overall.

BRITCAR 24 HOURS: Silverstone Report

With the marque in action earlier in the Dutch Supercar Challenge, the scene was now set for more Mosler mayhem. Qualifying was very promising: Rollcentre - winners in 2005 - took pole, the new Mosler on the block from Chad just behind them and Eclipse back the fifth row.

Stuart Hall took Rollcentre into an early lead, with Michael Vergers bringing the Chad Mosler into contention on lap two.

But 2006 champions Duller Motorsport made their intentions clear - lap five saw their BMW Z4 take a lead that it was reluctant to relinquish.

Key factors for the Britcar race turned out to be fuel consumption and reliability. The Duller Z4 had a clean run and needed fewer fuel stops than the rest of the field. This gave them a clear advantage for such an endurance race.

The Chad car had some engine problems but was scuppered by a collision with Richard Hammond in the Top Gear BMW diesel. Despite the damage, Rollcentre helped Chad get back into the action and to 27th place overall.

The Eclipse team, running without the Cole brothers who withdrew earlier in the week, had kept near the front runners throughout the race. But it was two driveshaft failures that held them back from a podium place, eventually bringing the car home in fifth place.

So it was down to Rollcentre to put up the most concerted challenge for the Britcar title. Stuart Hall ran two shifts in the car and was the team's fastest driver, but even he couldn't outperform the superior fuel economy of the Duller. The Mosler suffered from more brake wear than expected and was stuck in fifth gear for a time towards the end and came in second, 29 laps behind the second-time winning Duller Z4. The three Moslers crossed the line in formation.

So, disappointing that Rollcentre didn't reclaim their Silverstone Britcar 24 title, but still an impressive display by the marque.

Thanks to Martin Short for the photos.

DUTCH SUPERCAR CHALLENGE: Silverstone 8th September 2007

The Dutch Supercar Challenge goes walkabout to England as a support race for the Britcar 24 hour endurance event.

And it's two English teams who bring their Moslers along - DSC stalwarts the Woodcock brothers and Rollcentre, running their British GT car here with Kevin Riley and Ian Flux.

It's a major weekend for Rollcentre, with an Mosler running in Britcar as well. Five of the marque could be seen over the weekend.

Race one sees Rollcentre take an early lead before being taken by Elmar Grimm in the DTM Audi TTR. Gaining places towards the end of the race, the Mosler finished third and was then promoted to second place after Grimm was disqualified for earlier overtaking in the pit lane.

By contrast, the Woodcocks were suffering. Having qualified seventh, they lasted only six laps before having to pull out. They didn't make it into race two.

Rollcentre started in second but couldn't hold back the challenge of the Audi TTRs. Elmar Grimm, starting from the back of the grid, seemed to pass cars at will as he scythed through the field and eventually took the win.

Riley held off a strong challenge from the ETEC Viper to keep fourth place before handing the Mosler over. Ian Flux then caned the car round, recording the fastest race lap on his way to securing another second place for Rollcentre.

Video of the Moslers in action can be seen at the DSC website

BRITISH GT: Croft 8th-9th September

Well, this will be a short report. With Rollcentre in action over at Silverstone in the Britcar endurance race and the Coles still MIA from Eclipse action, no Moslers took to the circuit at Croft.

Hector Lester and Allan Simonsen took two wins over the weekend in the Christians in Motorsport Ferrari 430 GT3.
Barwell Motorsport wrapped up the team championship with a brace of second places.
So, it's on to 'The Rock' for the finale - I'll be there with video camera in tow to catch whatever action I can!

ZOLDER 24 HOURS: Preview

It's a massive Mosler weekend; Britcar and Dutch Supercar running at Silverstone and the 24 hour endurance race at Zolder in Belgium.

G&A have regular drivers Guino Kenis and Michael de Keersmaeker joined by Patrick Smets and Chris Mattheus.
Gravity International have two teams entered.

Car 24 sees Vincent Radermecker and Stéphane Lémeret partnered with two classic Belgian racers; 2002 FIA GT champion Christophe Bouchut and ex-F1/F3/touring car ace Eric van de Poele

Car 25 is piloted by Christian Kelders and Yves Lambert along with two current FIA GT drivers, Christian Lefort and Vincent Vosse.

Here's hoping for a winning weekend for the marque, both at Zolder and Silverstone.

BRITCAR 24 HOURS: Preview

Silverstone this weekend will see the most Moslers in UK action since the Brit GT/Belcar meet at Donington Park in April.

Three Moslers are entered for the Britcar 24 Hour event. Martin Short heads up Rollcentre's challenge along with Stuart Hall and Andy Neate. Eclipse are back in action with the Cole brothers accompanied by Martin Rich and Del Delaronds. And then it's the new kids on the Mosler block: Chad Racing enter their new MT900 to be driven by Sean and Michael McInerney along with Michael Vergers.

The Dutch Supercar Challenge pays a visit too, with two UK-based teams competing with Moslers. Gary and Michale Woodcock will be looking to go at least one better than their third spot clinched at Assen in August. And Rollcentre go for double glory with Ian Flux looking to improve on his British GT form.

Pictures from testing and qualifying to follow. Sadly, I'm not there - I'm at a wedding near Donington Park, so the closest I'll get to any motor action this weekend is hearing the Renault F1 at the World Series meeting :-(

RMU CLASSIC: 500 Miles of Spa, 25th August 2007

The first outing of the season for Gravity International's third Mosler saw a class win in the 500 Miles of Spa event.

This event features a wide variety of entrants, including GT, touring and prototypes.

Top GT qualifiers, Loris de Sordi, Gerard Lopez and Eric Lux went on to finish first in the GT1 class of the V de V Modern Endurance race. Their 28th overall position was a reflection of the handicap carried by the Mosler for this race.

DUTCH SUPERCAR CHALLENGE: Champ Car, Assen 2nd September 2007

Back to Assen, this time as support to the US Champ Car series.

The Woodcock brothers were looking to add to their debut podium places after their last successful outing at Assen in August. They qualified 12th but have shown how they can work through the pack.

Harry Mecke qualified well again, up in fifth spot.

Race one saw mixed fortunes for the Moslers. The Woodcocks ran a steady race and finished in sixth.
Harry Mecke was running well before a safety car period slowed things down and led to an overheating engine. He eventually finished 35th overall, 12th in class.
Race two didn't get any better for the Moslers. The Woodcocks finished down in 50th (16th in class) and Mecke managed 14th (8th in class).

INTERNATIONAL GT: Oschersleben August 25-26th 2007

The International GT rolls into Germany for the first time, with a Mosler leading the championship. With three podium finishes in a row, Aicart and Guerrero were on the lookout to extend their lead.

With accidents and incidents throughout practice and qualifying, the Pro-Am race was keenly anticipated. Guerrero took the GTA car out wide on the first lap through the chicane and seemed to pick up damage; he struggled to get through the same section on lap two and pitted for a lengthy stop. After 15 laps, GTA called it a day and the Mosler was retired from the race.

After all that excitement, what chance for a quiet, incident-free GT Open race? No chance - this is Mosler racing, and Moslers don't do fuss-free racing!

With Aicart starting halfway down the grid, the last thing he needed was a spinning opponent in his way. Unfortunately, that's what he got; Zapata's Sun Red losing it on lap two and Aicart unable to avoid a collision. The Mosler loses its bonnet in the crash but is able to carry on racing, ending in eight place.

Those results put the GTA drivers down down to joint fifth in the championship table, hoping for better luck next time when the tour take on Brands Hatch in September.
