2010 looks set to be a bumper year for the Mosler marque right across the world.
After last year's late rule interpretation shenanigans, it's good to see that the Mosler is allowed to run a full season in the British GT this time around. Sadly, Dan Brown won't be in the hot seat for Rollcentre this time as he took a place at STP Ferrari. Whilst Martin Short looks to fill the gap left by Dan's departure, another team is set to run a car as well; Moore International Motorsport, with Willie Moore and Paul White, are set to join Rollcentre in the championship after the opening rounds at Oulton Park.
The Britcar season is already underway, with the McInerneys back in the Eclipse Mosler. They were beaten by the pit strategy of the MJC Ferrari at Brands Hatch but are well placed for a strong run this year. No more Mosler entries have been confirmed in the championship yet, but this year sees the return of the 24 hour endurance event at Silverstone where the marque will surely be looking to make its presence felt.
The European endurance championship V de V has four Mosler entries this year. Boutinaud Racing (Gabriel Abergel and Xavier Pompidou), BF Racing (Manuel Ferreira and Ludovic Bour), and Team Bermax-Massi (Damien Kohler and Bob Erazin) line up alongside the series organiser himself (Eric Van de Vyver along with Tony Samon). Their season got underway this month with a four hour race at Jarama where Abergel and Pompidou took second place.
The Moslers down under are out in strength, too. The Australian GT series sees Father and son team Tony and Klark Quinn with a drive each for the VIP Petfoods team; Ash Samadi pilots the Beta Tools Mosler and Ian MacPherson drives for the IMAK KWIKMIT outfit. Sadly, Tony Quinn stuffed his car into the wall during qualifying for the opening round in Adelaide (about 50 seconds into this clip):
There's an interesting development this year in Japan. Melvin Choo will run a Mosler for ThunderAsia in the Super GT championship in the GT3000 class; half the power of the standard GT Mosler with a 3.4 litre Judd V8.
Which leaves the Dutch Supercar Challenge. Incorporating the Mosler Challenge, we've been used to seeing Rollcentre boss Martin Short and BlueBerry's Berry van Elk battle it out with occasional support form a couple of other Mosler outfits.
Well, this year the grid is positively groaning - as well as Short and van Elk, another five Moslers are confirmed entrants for the opening round at Silverstone. Kevin Riley Motorsport and the Topcats team are well known to Britcar fans; Moore International Motorsport also join the throng with Paul White looking to exploit the form that brought him second place in last year's Britcar 500. Javier Morcillo of Spain steps into the ex-Woodcock Brothers car and the Mad & Daring team add a Mosler to their 2010 collection, to be driven by Alex van 't Hoff.
We'll be at Silverstone on Sunday for the first Mosler Lover race report of the season, and will bring you a race preview late tomorrow. It could be a barnstormer of a race. With so many Moslers in action around the world, looking competitive, it could be a barnstormer of a season everywhere.
